Botched execution in Tennessee

SCOTUS voted 6–3 around 7pm ET to vacate the 6th Circuit’s last-minute stay of Christa Pike’s execution; the majority gave no explanation, while Sotomayor, Kagan and Jackson dissented. At Riverbend, the executioner could not establish a central line. Witnesses heard Pike say “the vein in my arm feels like it’s about to burst,” amid heavy snoring and repeated curtain openings and closings. After two syringes of pentobarbital, her lawyers said she was still alive and breathing at 11:37pm. TDOC said staff followed every step of the established protocol, which allowed no further procedures. Pike was transported to an off-site medical facility, and Gov. Lee ordered a review. She would have been Tennessee’s first woman executed in more than 200 years. Sources: AP, BBC, Nashville Banner, Tennessean.

Iran decision “very soon”

Trump said in the Oval Office: “Maybe you blow them up. We have to make that decision. We blow them up, make a deal, but the time is coming. It’s going to end very soon, one way or the other.” He said the administration is studying a possible Iran link to the RAF Fairford plot “very hard,” promised answers “very quickly,” and questioned the UK’s release of five suspects. Burnham cited “strong indications” Iran played a role, but UK counter-terror police say the vans held petrol, not viable explosives; the five remain bailed and under investigation. Iran’s embassy categorically rejects the link. No evidence has been offered on the US side. Al Jazeera also reported Netanyahu called the stabbed Indian pilot of the FlyDubai flight a hero and that FlyDubai is halting Israel flights; that remains single-source and flagged.

Hegseth’s “State of the Force”

A 20% cut to general and admiral positions is due by Jan. 1, 2027, doubling Hegseth’s May 2025 order. Most of the reduction is billets eliminated or downgraded, not officers cashiered. He also launched Project Meridian: Musk, Palmer Luckey and Newt Gingrich will co-lead a 120-day study of future warfare, “from subterranean depths to the cislunar frontier.” His rhetoric: “no fatties, no trannies, no beardos, no weirdos, no wimps, no radicals. Just warriors.” He calls it accountability; critics call it a purge. Le Monde mocks, Newsmax cheers, AP runs the numbers. Sources: AP, Reuters, Guardian.

Propaganda read

Drudge is running zero on Pike, Hegseth or Iran — a full culture-and-dread lineup instead: billionaire-apocalypse essays, Palantir’s CEO in Swedish forests, the automated McDonald’s and California’s “Kelvin” wave. Rantingly’s wall is Jack Smith, the Hegseth cuts, Florida’s CAIR designation and the FTC probe. The botched execution makes neither rotation’s front page. The wire is carrying Pike; the rotations aren’t.

Point at anything and I’ll go deep.
