Houthi missile strike on King Khalid International Airport Saturday — the third hit on the airport this week. Terminal 3 took a direct impact; ~627 flights cancelled Sunday and the airport is expected to stay shut until 9pm local. Four Saudis, one American, and nationals of six other countries among the dead. Trump on joining the Saudis: “We may. We’re going to look at it.” Sources: CNN · Daily Caller.
Death toll is at 4 — two in Florida, two in Alabama, trees on houses. Hundreds of thousands still without power across the Panhandle, Alabama and western Georgia; FPL says 95% of its customers who can safely take power will be back by Monday night. The storm is post-tropical over Alabama/Tennessee today — flood-watch country inland. Sources: USA Today.
At least 11 states issued their own dyed-diesel relief — Florida is not among them, so the state tax still applies here. NATSO’s warning to truck stops: the federal 24¢/gal is deferred, not forgiven — the retailer still owes it unless Congress waives it, with the Highway Trust Fund shortfall in the background. One DC piece cites a social-media claim that 16 Florida carriers have gone bankrupt — that number is unverified, treat it as thin. National diesel ~$6.20/gal, down from the $6.53 record Sept 22. Sources: Daily Caller · Daily Caller.
On diesel, the right-fed sells a president strong-arming cheaper fuel; the left-fed sells a deferral that leaves truck stops holding the bag — NATSO’s warning is the tell that the second movie has the paper. On Riyadh, the Daily Caller runs it as Iranian-backed escalation demanding a response; CNN runs it as a US ally’s defenses failing for the third time in a week. Same explosion, two movies.
Point at anything and I'll go deep.

ICJ judge Navi Pillay won the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for promoting international law. The same day, President Trump hit the International Criminal Court with new US sanctions — and fumed publicly over being snubbed for the prize, criticizing Norway.
The laureate is a boycott-Israel, “blood libel” figure who got the prize “for hating Israel” (Free Beacon, Hot Air) — the sanctions are overdue pushback against a politicized court, and the snub proves the Nobel’s irrelevance.
A champion of international law honored for a lifetime of work (Guardian) — Trump’s sanctions are an authoritarian lashing-out at the rules-based order, and his public fuming exposes the vanity driving the policy.
President Trump announced a deal to buy diesel from Russia and said it is “time for Ukraine to get a new president.” Zelenskyy called the deal “weak” — and even some Republicans are balking at the Russia arrangement.
Trump’s patience with Zelenskyy is spent as the war drags into another year (Daily Caller) — the diesel deal is energy pragmatism: cheaper fuel for Americans with the midterms three weeks out.
Trump is cutting energy deals with Putin while blaming the invaded country (Guardian) — undermining a democratic ally for domestic gas-price optics, and his own party knows it stinks.
Houthi missiles hit Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport: 12 dead — including one American, per Marco Rubio — and more than 300 wounded. Trump is weighing joining the fight against the Houthis.
Iranian-proxy terror that killed an American on the tarmac (Wash. Examiner, Daily Caller) — Rubio standing tall, and it’s past time to hit back hard.
A widening Middle East crisis with a staggering civilian toll (NPR, Guardian) — the risk is getting dragged into another war, not settling one.
ProPublica found more than 500 US citizens detained in the immigration crackdown — some handcuffed or held at gunpoint — and reports DHS intimidating a border tribe with surveillance, masked agents, and drones. Separately: a NYC man shot by ICE still has the bullet in his body, and a Houston man was hospitalized after an ICE vehicle struck him in a chase.
Enforcement is doing the job it was elected to do — and the loudest critics are demanding the release of gang members and felons (Hot Air). The crackdown is the mandate in action.
A dragnet with no guardrails: American citizens in cuffs, a sovereign tribe under drone watch, shootings and chase injuries with no accountability (ProPublica).
With three weeks to the midterms, Trump is mailing Americans checks and pushing to cut fuel costs. Affordability remains the pressure point — even friendly outlets note prices haven’t fallen as promised.
The “economic pessimism” is a media narrative (Hot Air) — the checks and fuel moves put money back in pockets, and the fundamentals are moving the right way.
A pre-election buyoff compensating for what the GOP did to healthcare (TPM) — and even the right admits the gap: “Where’s the beef?” (Daily Caller).
The Nobel/ICC fight — a pure Rorschach. One lane sees a corrupt, politicized court and its apologists finally getting their due; the other sees the rules-based order under open assault from the White House, with a Nobel-snub tantrum driving the policy. There’s barely a shared set of facts left about what the court — or the prize — even is anymore.
Sunday’s fault line runs straight through the institutions: courts, alliances, and the price of gas.
